SUMMARY:Tribute to African Americans
DESCRIPTION:In honor of African American History Month\, Eastfield College Library is proud to offer a combination of several library-owned exhibits that encompass both historical and contemporary famous Black personalities as well as the major events during the Civil Rights movement. Historic Black Personalities includes posters of such innovative people as Frederick Douglass\, Harriett Tubman\, and George Washington Carver. Contemporary Black Personalities includes posters of well-known entertainers\, athletes\, politicians\, and leaders such as Oprah Winfrey\, Michael Jordan\, Doug Wilder\, and Colin L. Powell.Astronauts\, musicians\, sports figures\, politicians\, and educators comprise the next exhibit entitled 20th Century Black Personalities. The last exhibit\, Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement\, portrays the influence of Martin Luther King Jr. on the Civil Rights Movement from the famous Montgomery bus boycott of 1955 to King’s death in 1968. These four exhibits pay homage to the dedication and determination of these men and women who changed the face of America.
