The Company
Quest Window Systems Inc (“Quest”) is a manufacturer of a window wall system designed for high-rise residential developments, based in Toronto, Ontario Canada. Quest services clients from all over North America, including major metropolitan areas such as New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Toronto and Vancouver.
 
Purpose: 
This position is responsible for managing Procurement, Materials receiving team, and external suppliers, including analyzing contracts, preparing, and implementing effective negotiating tactics, and developing profitable purchasing strategies, as well as working towards continuously improving the supply chain network to match the vision of Quest USA.
 
Primary Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):
 
  • Manages cross-functional Supply Chain team supporting window operations including Procurement and Materials teams
  • Manages inventory accuracy improvement strategy through collaboration between purchasing, inventory management, and continuous improvement teams focused on Root Cause Analysis(RCA) and elimination of material stock-outs
  • Collaborates with Continuous Improvement, Quality, and Plant Manager on strategic improvement of improved material flow aligning with operations growth and strategy
  • Collaborates up-stream with Material Take-Off team and Master Scheduler to support strategic material purchasing planning conducive to optimal operational efficiency and material yield
  • Procure material that is critical for the success of our business operations
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts
  • Evaluate market conditions and different suppliers
  • Communicate and negotiate effectively and maintain relationships
  • Develop profitable purchasing strategies and maintain update records
  • Review supplies to ensure quality, monitors stock levels and keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports (revenues, buying expenditures etc.)
  • Attend events, fairs and exhibitions to keep abreast of the market’s trends
  • Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
  • Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers and obtaining approval from manager
  • Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders
  • Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
  • Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed
  • Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
 
Direction of others: 
  • Leads a group of buyers and schedulers
Qualifications and Skills Required:
 
  • 4-year degree in Supply Chain or equivalent required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and purchasing software (e.g. Dynamics 365)
  • Proven experience as a purchasing agent or relevant role
  • Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
  • Market knowledge research, data analysis and purchasing best practices
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • A strong analytical mindset
