The Company
Quest Window Systems Inc (“Quest”) is a manufacturer of a window wall system designed for high-rise residential developments, based in Toronto, Ontario Canada. Quest services clients from all over North America, including major metropolises such as New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and Toronto.
 
Purpose: This position is responsible for inspecting, testing and analyzing the quality of our products and processes to include customer quality requirements. The QA/QC Technician is also responsible to assist in the process of continuous improvement within Quality department; focusing on increasing efficiency and eliminating variation in manufacturing processes.
Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Must Have Responsibilities
  • Follow all required safety practices, guidelines and company procedures
  • Keep your work area, inside the factory and the Quest grounds safe, clean, and organized at all times
  • Report all safety incidents immediately to your direct manager or member of Safety Team
  • Maintain good attendance and be at your work area prior to the shift start bell
  • Take breaks at designated times and do not leave your work area before the horn end of shift bell
  • Be able to work in a team environment
  • Provide support and train other team members as instructed
  • Learn and understand Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of product, processes and customer expectations
  • Monitor the quality of output to identify, discard or re-manufacture faulty products
  • Perform related or other responsibilities as required or assigned to meet customer and production requirements
  • Perform any and all reasonable requests from management
Additional Responsibilities
  • Performs 1st piece, receiving, in-process, and final inspections on component parts and fasteners: assuring compliance with specifications and maintaining accurate records in accordance with Quality Control procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Performs mechanical and dimensional inspection on components and assemblies per specifications and work instructions. Assures components and fasteners meet design and manufacturing specifications.
  • Inspect all manufacturing documentation for completeness and accuracy (work order, blueprints, etc)
  • Ensure tools and equipment meet standards and calibration requirements
  • Insure the continuous flow of production that meets planned Quality standards while identifying and escalating issues and improvements
  • Utilize QA/QC systems and equipment to comply with procedures and standards
  • Comply with and adhere to Quest Quality guidelines and follow quality control plans
  • Meet Quality business expectations by producing acceptable parts, record scrap, document quality checks, identify non- conforming material and follow process to disposition
  • Challenge status quo values in an open and positive manner by contributing ideas, suggestions and knowledge
  • Attend and participate in all required meetings by being on time and contributing in a positive and open-minded manner
  • Participate in root cause analyses
  • Disposition non-conforming materials, perform production audits and personnel overchecks
  • Have extensive knowledge of inspection tools and measuring equipment
 
 
  • Have extensive knowledge of products and specifications
  • Clean up at designated times, putting tools, materials and products in designated spots.
  • Follow standardized work for all jobs and participate in defining and improving them
  • Understand and accept internal and external customer expectations, adjust to changing needs within business by being flexible and adaptable
Required Qualification and Skills:
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, and slide product that typically may weigh up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for duration of shift
  • Able to work in a non-climate-controlled factory environment
  • Highest attention to the quality of work performed
  • English communication skills - oral and written
  • Basic math skills including the ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, divide and read a standard tape measure
  • Be willing to learn and rotate through multiple positions as business needs require
  • Pre-employment background check & drug screening are required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some overtime and weekends
  • 2+ years of Quality and Manufacturing experience
  • Basic reading and interpretation of blueprints and/or specifications
  • Basic knowledge of inspection tools and measuring equipment
  • Basic knowledge of operational function to be inspected
  • Understand and apply quality science and tools
  • Understand manufacturing processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products
  • Have initiative be able to work with minimal supervision when needed
  • Be able to effectively provide Constructive Product Related Feedback Production Line Associates
Preferred Qualification and Skills:
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire and apply QMS principles
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and motivate people
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Window aluminum industry experience
  • Experience using various statistical and quality methodologies
  • Effective use of an iPad
